Primary activity of the Conservation–Restoration Workshop is preventive protection of the Museum objects. In addition to that, the workshop determines conditions for storing museum objects, organizes permanent control of storing conditions and establishes the extent of vulnerability of the Museum objects. It develops professional-technical documentation and organizes the work on the conservation and restoration of the Museum objects.
Despite excellent cooperation with the Centre for Archaeology and Conservation in Cetinje, there was an obvious need for a full-time conservation expert, and for this reason the Museum Workshop was established on 14th February 2017. Although the Workshop has only been operational for a year and a half, the first activities were of preventive nature and focused on Visković Family Library.
Currently, the Workshop works on Vincenzo Coronelli’s “Isolario” as there are plans to celebrate 300th anniversary of the demise of the most famous Venetian cartographer by organizing an exhibition of his works. Besides these activities, the Workshop keeps documentation on microclimatic conditions in the Museum building.
